Both sides are currently tied on points.

BC Place in Vancouver, Canada, is set to stage an exciting Group G clash between New Zealand and Egypt in the fourth match of the FIFA World Cup 2026. With Belgium and Iran also vying for qualification from the group, every point could prove crucial in the race for a place in the knockout rounds.

New Zealand began their campaign with an impressive 2-2 draw against Iran. Making their first FIFA World Cup appearance since 2010, the Kiwis have now gone unbeaten in their last four World Cup matches, with each of those games ending in a draw. With all four teams in Group G currently level on one point, a victory here would significantly strengthen New Zealand’s hopes of progressing to the next stage.

Egypt, meanwhile, enter the contest on the back of a commendable 1-1 draw against Belgium in their opening fixture. The Pharaohs showcased their quality against one of the tournament’s strongest sides and remain among the favourites to advance from the group. Led by star attackers Mohamed Salah and Omar Marmoush, Egypt possess the experience and firepower needed to make a deep run in the competition.

Match Prediction

The encounter between New Zealand and Egypt promises to be a fascinating contest, with both sides eager to claim all three points and strengthen their chances of reaching the knockout stage. Having earned a point each from their opening fixtures, neither team can afford to drop valuable points in what could prove to be a decisive Group G clash. While New Zealand have shown resilience and organization, Egypt possess greater experience and attacking quality. Nevertheless, we expect a closely fought encounter with the Kiwis edging out a narrow victory.

Prediction: New Zealand 2-1 Egypt

The 2026 FIFA World Cup will be the 23rd edition of the FIFA World Cup, the quadrennial international men's soccer championship contested by the national teams of the member associations of FIFA. The tournament will take place from June 11 to July 19, 2026.[1] It will be jointly hosted by sixteen cities—eleven in the United States, three in Mexico, and two in Canada. The tournament will be the first FIFA World Cup to be hosted by three nations, and the first to include 48 teams, an expansion from 32 previously.

The United 2026 bid beat a rival bid by Morocco during a final vote at the 68th FIFA Congress in Moscow. It will be the first World Cup since 2002 to be co-hosted by multiple nations. With its past hosting of the 1970 and 1986 tournaments, Mexico will become the first country to host or co-host the World Cup three times. The United States previously hosted the World Cup in 1994. By contrast, it will be Canada's first time hosting or co-hosting the tournament. The event is returning to its traditional Northern Hemisphere summer schedule after the 2022 World Cup in Qatar was uniquely held in November and December.

As the host nations, Canada, Mexico, and the United States all automatically qualified. Cape Verde, Curaçao, Jordan, and Uzbekistan will all make their World Cup debuts. Argentina is the defending champion, having won its third World Cup title in 2022.

Preparations for the tournament have drawn controversy, particularly over United States immigration and visa policies affecting qualified teams and their fans, Iran's participation during the 2026 Iran war, and FIFA's use of dynamic ticket pricing.
