La Roja will face the Green Falcons in a crucial Group H clash as they look to secure all three points.

Spain will be aiming to secure their first victory of the FIFA World Cup 2026 when they take on Saudi Arabia on Sunday. La Roja began their campaign with a surprising goalless draw against Cape Verde, making this fixture even more important as all four teams in Group H currently sit level on one point.

Despite introducing Lamine Yamal in the second half, Spain were unable to find a way past a disciplined Cape Verde defence. This will be only the second FIFA World Cup meeting between Spain and Saudi Arabia, with their previous encounter coming in 2006. La Roja remain unbeaten against the Green Falcons and will be determined to maintain that record.

Saudi Arabia, meanwhile, earned a valuable point in their opening match after holding Uruguay to a 1-1 draw. The Green Falcons will look to build on that encouraging result as they prepare for another stern test. Goalkeeper Mohammed Al Owais played a crucial role against the South Americans with a series of impressive saves, and Saudi Arabia will once again be hoping for a standout performance from their shot-stopper against Spain.

Match Prediction

Spain are undoubtedly the stronger side on paper, but another wasteful display in front of goal could make life difficult for them. Despite their dominance in possession and attacking quality, Saudi Arabia have already shown that they can frustrate top opposition and should not be underestimated. Nevertheless, La Roja are expected to control the game and create enough chances to secure a crucial victory.

Prediction: Spain 3-1 Saudi Arabia

The 2026 FIFA World Cup will be the 23rd edition of the FIFA World Cup, the quadrennial international men's soccer championship contested by the national teams of the member associations of FIFA. The tournament will take place from June 11 to July 19, 2026.[1] It will be jointly hosted by sixteen cities—eleven in the United States, three in Mexico, and two in Canada. The tournament will be the first FIFA World Cup to be hosted by three nations, and the first to include 48 teams, an expansion from 32 previously.

The United 2026 bid beat a rival bid by Morocco during a final vote at the 68th FIFA Congress in Moscow. It will be the first World Cup since 2002 to be co-hosted by multiple nations. With its past hosting of the 1970 and 1986 tournaments, Mexico will become the first country to host or co-host the World Cup three times. The United States previously hosted the World Cup in 1994. By contrast, it will be Canada's first time hosting or co-hosting the tournament. The event is returning to its traditional Northern Hemisphere summer schedule after the 2022 World Cup in Qatar was uniquely held in November and December.

As the host nations, Canada, Mexico, and the United States all automatically qualified. Cape Verde, Curaçao, Jordan, and Uzbekistan will all make their World Cup debuts. Argentina is the defending champion, having won its third World Cup title in 2022.

Preparations for the tournament have drawn controversy, particularly over United States immigration and visa policies affecting qualified teams and their fans, Iran's participation during the 2026 Iran war, and FIFA's use of dynamic ticket pricing.
